Just use your fav search engine: Reman engines and your state or area

$500, not sure, that's pretty low...

First off.. Why u need to rebuild it?
The reman kit may just be the internals.. Really the gasket kits are VERY pricey.. I redid my engine 2 years ago i tore it down then sent the block out to be hot tanked redid the heads. when i bought the upper and lower gasket kits i couldnt beleive how much they were.. i got them from my machine guy where he saved money,, the head bolts were crazy money also if I remember correctly.. They are not hard to rebuild.. the hardest part is gettin the G.D thing out.. if ur gonna go throught the work of pulling it out.. y not rebuild it..

chappieJR how much did you pay? My gasket where pretty cheap. I only got the head gasket kit but it was $99 at kragens napa was $175. Head bolts cost me $25.
On another note, if you still have your engine what is the problem with it? You could salvage the parts and save lots of money. The K engines are very common and i see them sell for $200 all the time with about 100k-150k

The problem with putting a used engine with 150k in is how long will it last? Pulling the engine out of a 4th gen is a lot of work.......SFC

When I did mine I paid $650 for the motor and another $1200 in parts that "needed" replaced. Ok well maybe needed is a strong word, I didn't need Stainless steel headers or $500 worth of clutch assebly. But I would have spent $400-500 replacing parts that should be replace. You go pulling apart things the have been together for the last 15 years and they tend to break. Be prepared the car will 20 dollar you to death. Plugs, wires, hoses and motor mounts alone will be near $300

Agree with Gorn. I paid $300 for engine, got in a hurry and only replaced the intake gaskets and valve cover gaskets. 6 months later, had to replace head gaskets and now I am needing to replace the rear main. If I had it to do over, I would have taken my time and done all that plus the oil pan gasket while I had the engine sitting out where it would be easy to do.
