Crank bolt removal
#11
A buddy of mine tried that once and put the bar on the wrong side and then cranked the engine over. Well we got the bolt off and we also went to the store for a new power steering pump, and to Sears for a new replacement of the breaker bar. I was laughing so hard when it happened because I told him it was the wrong way and he did not believe me. Ahh good ol' memories of my childhood.

nope, if it did then the crank bolt would be reverse threaded to prevent it from comming off. Most every US engine rotates clockwise, most others do as well but there are a few that spin backwards.

Some pulleys spin right (clockwise), and the ones that ride on the non-ribbed side of the belt spin left (counterclockwise). The direction of the crank pulley is your only concern.
