Cooling Problem / Help Getting to Thermostat
I have a 95 with a 3.4 V6. My cars temperature seems to be going erratic once it heats up. When the temperature rises higher than normal the heater blows no hot air out. Then the temp will go back down to normal and the heat will start coming out of the vents again. It does this back and forth while I'm driving. I'm not too familiar with cooling problems so I'm guessing it is probably the Thermostat. Please let me know if I may be wrong or if any other suggestions. Now, when I go to try to take the thermostat housing off, it seems almost impossible to get to the right bolt as there is too many things in the way. I've tried using attatchments on the wrench and the u-joint attatchment but have had no luck. Has anyone here removed the housing? If so, can you please describe the method you used? Or if anyone else has suggestions to what other tools I may be able to use to get to it. Any help much appreciated.
hey, to be honest, just take it to jiggy lube or w/e and have the cooling system flushed and have them install it, Good maintnence and unless you have a flushing machine you can't do it correctly. But that's what i would do.
you would need to remove the intake tube, and the throttle body to get to the thermostat. I just did the job a few weeks ago, and it took about 15-20 minutes to do the replacement from start to finish. Pretty easy job once you remove the throttle body.
