coolant color not good!
hey guys i need help does any body know why the color of my coolant would be brown kinda like chocolate milk!
|
The fact that its dexcool which is supposed to be good for 100k but actually needs to be flushed every 20k
|
It is probably because it is too old and nasty. If it is original, you definitely need to change it out.
If it is not that old, you may have another problem that is letting oil or combustion gasses mix with the coolant. But it is most likely just old and needing changing. |
Thanks guys i hope thats all it is! Ill flush it this wknd!

How many miles since your last flush? Might want to install a flush kit...

How long have you had the car? I ask because I once bought a car that had the same issue. I did not check it until after having the car about six months. I flushed it and the next day a pinhole leak showed up at the intake manifold. I was left with the sneaking feeling someone had put stop leak in the radiator and sold the car. I figured since it worked once lets do it again. I put stop leak back in it and it turned the fluid back to brown but it did stop the leak. I drove the car another few months and unloaded on someone else.

What about oil getting in the cooling system?

Out with the old in with the new!
