I can't get a link to my computer from the car's data port to my scanner. What should I check? The wires on the data port look fine. The car is a 95 V6 with OBD-II.

Thanks!

So you're saying I could have an OBD-I computer with an OBD-II connector? My scanner is OBD-II.

yes you have an OBDII connector and the computer is an ALDL system. Here is the kicker on this one... The computer is programmed different than older ALDL computers and will not give the codes through the CEL if you ground the "A" pin. In fact it takes a special cable to adapt to the computer and be read. Good news is most readers that can read (not just blink) the ALDL codes can read your car with the proper cable. Contact your scanner's manufacturer about the cable. I sell the SUNPRO scanners at O'reillys and they offer the special cable it is like $30. My store has not been able to get the cables but you can order from the manu. These cables are used on Camaro, Corvette, some Cadillac, and I believe the LT1 Caprice/Impala in 94/95. Good luck in your search.
