Just wondering if anyone else removed there cat. converter and now have a service engine soon light that has a trouble code for the cat.converter?thanks

Why would you remove your cat?
Your exhaust gasses aren't burning/ flowing the same way. Your gas millage probably went down as well I'm guessing. Your o2 sensors trying to compensate for the change.

 

Thats correct, unless you get a tune your not gaining anything from it. Get the rear o2's tuned out.

 

The O2 sensors BEFORE the cat adjust the fuel mixture. The only thing the O2 sensor does after Cat is tell IF the Cat is cleaning the exhaust. Yes it will set a check engine lite, Code will be Cat low efficiency or something like that.

On a V6 the only down side to no cat is the raspy sound you get. You will gain a small amount of power but if you notice a big change then your cat was going bad.

 

Thanks.deffinatly want to get a tune and be done with it.i like the sound of it now and it has alot more umph then when i got it home.not that i plan on racing it but its just nice to romp on it every now and then.

 

You do realize that most states require a catalytic converter? Some just for visual reasons, others for a sniffer test? So unless you plan on building the car up for all out drag racing, you're gonna need the cat again.

 

I didnt have a cat on my car when I bought it. I was also throwing this code. What I did was go and buy some spark plug non foulers. Drilled out 1 end to a half inch I believe and then plug in my o2 then plug that into my manifold. All it really did was pull the o2 out of the exhaust fumes but it made the code go away and I havent had it pop up for about a year and a half.

I remember the wires being tight, but I didnt have to extend them. The whole set up with like. o2 into the drilled out nonfouler into a normal nonfouler into the o2 manifold. Didnt cost much either.
