ok so my car acts up at high rpms like 3000+ sometimes it hesitates and u can feel a lil misfire. and i can smell gas when i crank up and turn off
could this be the cat?
could it be plugged a lil bit?

 

Could be many various things. Is the check engine lite on or blinking?

its like when im cruising if i try to flow it it wont speed up quickly it slowly climbs in rpms
if i stop and let it hit 1000 rpm i can flow it and keep it goin but if i already took off good and try to flow it it doesnt climb that good

 

I had the same problem and it got worse. I had the cat changed (fortunately still under warranty) and It runs so much better now.

 

This desnt necesarily mean its the cat, you should take off your cat and inspect it. its not hard to pull and you can see if it is clogged. can anyone confirm that the check engine light would come on from the cat being clogged. When my old one was clogged the lite never came on. it could be alot of other things, have you taken it in to check what the code on the light is.

 

There is no code for "cat clogged". You have to look at your symptoms and such. On OBD-II equipped vehicles you get a code if your cat is inefficient (not cleaning the exhaust).

 

go get your codes read. thats always a good first starting point

 

thats right on the OBDII cars there was an oxygen sensor behind the cat. the OBDI cars wouldnt have a check engine light on if your cat was clogged, thank you 02 stangt

 

There is no code for cat clogged on OBD-II vehicles either. The downstream O2 sensor will think everything is fine, since it would be reading what little exhaust gets through.
