cat performance
I had my 94 camaro cat remove like 2 years ago,,,, glad I did..Cats don't last long anyway,lol... Well when the last time I was going to be another one 325 vs 35 buck to remove it.. Oh no e-check here, LOL. Not that it matters
I have a 3.4 myself, and it won't set off any SES lights
, my cat has beenbeen off for over a year and theres no SES light.... the 3.8s have a sensor behind the cat to ensure that its working properly and not clogged, however the 3.4s do not.

Look at the post above....should explain why you won't get a SES light on a 3.4

Thecar REDNECK97 drivesis OBDII and uses upstream and downstream O2 sensors and will complain if the cat is removed. Your car is OBDI and does not care what you do with the cat.
As I said in the previous post, you can remove the cat in the 97 cars but the downstream O2 sensors have to be replaced with O2 simulators, to prevent setting off trouble codes and the car running funny.

I found Catco High Flow Cats 6006 at http://www.discountconverter.com/dealer.htmfor $38.50
Personally, i would highly not recommend taking out or gutting your cat in any way. It would improve the effeciency in that matter yes, but it not gonna give the correct back pressure ur engine needs to operate smoothly and you will look low end power. A high-flow is the best way to go for sho'.
I have a 99 3.8L and my ses light has always been on. couple of weeks ago I look atmy exhaust and it has shot some of the cat out of it. WhenI cut the cat open and look at it theres nothing in it. so for know I have just thrown on a spare flow mufflera friend had. I have some big changes in place for the intake/exhaust. I can say that it does hurt your low end alot but it seems like it helped it in the higher rpm levels in 3rd and 4th. could just be my imagination.
I removed my Cat i think my mpg got worse and influence is right, it sounded like ****, specially cause i put a glasspack, dont ask why but i did, i had to smog it so i removed the glasspack and installed a hi flo cat and hooker header dual exuast muffler, it sounds a bit better, but not quite the rumble i know i can get out of a v6. Any ideas on a exaust kit that will rumble. My bro had a flowmasters kit on his jeep and its loud but not quite the sound im looking for.
