Preferably direct fit. Im not opposed to universal but I just do not know what type of work is involved in the universal application

The universal cat is just the cat. It doesn't have the y-pipe. You just cut the cat off and weld the new one in. It costs about $90 at pep boys

I'm in VA. I'm sure they pass in VA. Does welding it on affect the performance of the exhaust? I'm sure my questions sound stupid and I know he answers to most of them I just want to make sure I get it right.

Welding shouldn't hurt anything. If you go to any mechanic and have tge cat replaced they would just cut it off and weld in a new one. That's what they did one my first car

Since you have pace setter headers they should have the y pipe Already. So install the headers and drive to your local muffler shop and get them to weld in the cat for you. Or if you have a buddy with a tig welder have him do it for a few beers.

Yea I checked my headers and forgot that it came with a y-pipe. I guess that right there makes my decision a little easier
