Default Car just died while driving

Hello all. I have a 94 V6 3.4L automatic

So one day when I was driving, my car just died. Weather was normal and everything was pretty routine that morning. I noticed my car jerking and I looked down at my gauges and I didn't have any oil pressure. The steering wheel became stiff and I had no power in the gas pedal. I pulled over immediately and turned my car off. That was the last time she saw life.

I had it towed to my house and starting driving my truck around. Work got very busy and I had little time to waste on trying to fix something that I had no idea what it was. Anyway, The car has been sitting in front of my house for 6 months. I have recently decided to give it a go. Now I don't want to drop too much money into this car. It has 147,000 miles and the there are a lot of problems. I do want to get it running to give to a nephew or keep it as a summer car.

Anyway, can anyone tell me what is wrong with it or tell me what tests I can do to tell? Once again, it just died while I was driving and the engine won't turn over now. On a side note, I replaced the starter a few weeks earlier. I don't know if the starter malfunctioning would cause my car to just die in the middle of driving at a constant pace but I figure I would try to give as much information as possible.

Get a socket and breaker bar and see if you can turn over by hand.

Sounds like a seized engine to me. Any check engine lights?

Did you notice any noise from the motor when it died? No oil pressure while you were driving isn't a good sign. You could have have a pump failure and had severe engine damage occur unless the guage was not reading properly. Starter would not cause the car to die, but siezing from no oil could. If it were me I would try to turn it by hand and drop the oil pan and see if you find signs of damage. ex. metal shavings and broken pieced of rods, pistons, etc in the pan/oil. Let us know what you find please.

No check engine lights at all. The only thing odd I noticed was the no oil pressure and no power.

How do I turn it over by hand?

to turn it by hand get a 1/2" drive breaker bar and find a socket to fit on the bolt to the harmonic balancer (the big bottom pulley on the front of the engine) and turn it clockwise. It may be a good idea to remove the spark plugs when you do this so that it doesnt build compression and will be easier to turn. With the plugs out it shouldnt be too difficult to turn over and it you cant turn it relatively easily something is wrong. You shouldn't be straining to turn it over.

The bolt your looking for is the big one on the only pulley on this motor. It will be in the same place on your engine.

If my engine turns, what else could be the problem? I am currently at work but as soon as I get home, I plan to try it. I just want to have a few things I could try before getting started.

without oil pressure the bearings get hot and the friction will slow motor and cause loss of power. in a short time the heat gets to the point of melting the bearing to the crankshaft causing the motor to stop rotating and die. be right back

So what is my best case scenario here? Worst case is obviously the engine is completely destroyed and would be too expensive to try to fix
