Default cant stand noise

I have a 2000 3800 and am looking for a way to kill that winning noise. It takes away the dignity of owning a camaro. I just got a new cat back exhaust with 3 inch tips and sounds great, but the winning V6 is getting old. Does anyone have a Z28 for sale? Lol. No but seriously, does anyone know what causes the noise?

whining...eh

this has come up b4, and I still haven't heard my car 'whining'. Is it like a bad power steering pump whine? Also, exhaust wouldn't fix a whine, it would just cover it by making the exhaust louder.

Yea, it sounds just like it. And of course the exhaust wont fix it, thats not why i had it done. The reason why yours doesnt do that is because you have a 3.4. Thoes sound completely different than the 3.8. Someone with a 3.8 knows what im talking about, all 3.8 Camaros sound like that. So i know theres nothing wrong with anything, i would just like to know what causes the noise. But yea, its like a bad power steering noise, but a little louder.

Power steering pump would have a different tone as you turn the wheel. Lot of times the bearings in the tensioners and idler pullies go bad. Does it change with headlights and ac and all the electrical on? Usualy if it gets loader with a drain on your alternater that is waht could be bad. Do you have your defrost or a/c on? May be the clutch or bearing on the pump.
Have you tried to remove the belt and start the car? if you still hear the noise it is not one of those accesories. If the noise is gone spin the accesories by hand and see if you can hear the noise or a bad bearing.

The only thing i havent done is taking the belt off. Nothing is bad, or needs to be replaced, ive looked at everything. I stuck my head under the car and had my sister rev the engine and its comming from under the car. It sounds like my gear drive or something, but im not sure. But at itle you dont hear it, only when I give it gas.
