Default CAI K&N For 3.4L Camaro

Ok so I have had K&N for awhile now. THe performance of my car is great. Well while under the car earlier, i took a look at the Filter. It seems to me that the filter is being blocked by the front bumper and some plastic shield that hooks to the bottom of the bumper. It has vents in the plasticx shield. Im not sure if this is a water shield or what. But its on both sides of the car. I took that shield off so the CAI will get alot more air flow. Here are some pictures of the plastic shield.

was it a good idea taking that off. I will put more pics up of underneath the car if requested.

I know the part, first piece to come off to change the fog lamps.I believe its part of the air flow concept on these cars to direct air into the radiator or on the front brakes. this part always appeared to me to direct air to the brakes and also to keep water out of the bottom of the engine compartment. Good idea to remove it?? No clue, give it a try. I have been thinking of ways to better feed my CAI myself.

ive had mine off for a while now this is called the splash sheild basically the risk your running with it off is your CAI sucking up water but the water would have tobe pretty dang deep so like i said ive had mine off for a month or so now no problems.

Yeah I might go up to the suto parts store and get the CAI metal tube. I just have the stock K&N plastic tube. THat tube might make the air more cooler. idk?

A tube is a tube... They all serve the same purpose.... Some just look cooler than others

The air is already cool. I feel like you would waste alot of time for nothing, trying to perfect your intake.

yeah but I dont know what else to do to my car. Its already pretty quick. but not fast enough. I wanted to put a cam, headers, and full dual exhaust, but that would just be a waste of money because its a six. I would love a V8 but im 17 so i cant just go and buy a V8. and i have had the car for about a month.
