CAI
i looked online at a few places and most of them have CAI's for only 93-97 3800's; do those fit the 98-02 models because i didn't see anything that specifically said they were only designed for the 98-02's; thanks
air lid PLUS* the intake; would you suggest getting any of these; i would prefer the cheaper one but do you know what kinds of gains i would get out of all of them and how easy they are to install; thanks

well one of those is for an impala...and i would suggest any of those b/c you shouldn't spend $200+ just on an intake...Look on ebay for a Intake (there are thousands of them so make sure you go through and find a good one)
yes you can just get the lid, and then get some rubber/pvc tubing and make a custom one...or you can get a tube/with cone filter and run it in the fenderwell...just look thru ebay

i had an idea earlier about making my own CAI. i want to relocate my battery to the back of the car so that i can make a real CAIwithout anything being in the way. what do you guys think?....do you think it would work well enought to be worth the work?
-thanks

ummm...on my 96 3.8, the battery is on the passenger side, and the air intake goes to the driver side, were you going to have it come from both sides? Making your own CAI is perfectly fine, just get a K&N cone filter, some rubber tube joints and some tubing and go to work.
