Default C6 Vette Rims on a 97 Camaro RS

I have only seen a few others use C6 rims on their Camaro's. I have a set on my car right now but I had to use spacers in the back. I also used some Eibach lowering spings. In order to put the tires on the car I had to get 1.5 inch spacers, but was wondering if anyone else has done this and if they had to roll the fenders or use a different size spacer.

what size are they?

I have C5 Z06 wheels which are 17 x 9.5 and for the rears of our model years (93-97) you need to have the hub opening enlarged (on the wheel) by 1/4 inch. I run 275's all around with no issues and no spacers (95Z)

Same size on mines too the rim shop had to file the rear for them to fit. No problems with the front at all

Just put some C6 5 thin spokes on my friend's 96 RS and the only thing we needed to do was use 1/4 spacers in the rear. 1.5" spacers??? your lugs are only 2" how the hell are you gonna get 1.5" spacers, rims and then the nuts on the lugs? I am gonna say it wont work. Dry fit the rims first make sure that you are not getting in over your head. 12" wide will not fit without modding the body but the 9.5 will fit just fine with a 1/4 spacer. and if you get 4 front rims which are 8" you dont need spacers

I spent the better part of a morning "dry fitting" as you said only to see that the fat tire hits part of the inner wheel well. So I took a stab in the dark and got on ebay and found me a pair of 1.5 inch spacers. They attached very well to the rear end (I have drum brakes on my RS).

If you dont think they work then just take a look at the two pictures in my garage. They are on and they look really good! They actually stick out on the bottom like the older camaro's used to back in the 70's. Kind of nastalgic. These are 18's in the front and 19's in the back. I got them for a steal at 450 dollars with two good rear tires and totally messed up front tires. Found some Nexen rubber for 120 and put them on the front.

I may be nuts, but much like you I own this beauty! My wife would prefer I not claim it ever as mine...thats humor by the way, she would never say that...to my face.

Sorry, I meant to say wheel adapters, not spacers. These worked great and I could also have got some 1 inch ones for my GTO rims to put on the car but thought its a chevy not a pontiac, it just wont feel right.

OK wheel adaptors are a different critter all together. Yes I can see how that would work. Great deal on the wheels!! and I forgot to mention that yes my buddy's car did rub on the inside lower wheel well and we took a big hammer and "talked" it into not rubbing the tires any more.

I have to "talk" to my fenders when i get home and hammer them out a little bit underneath so the wheels wont rub so much.

I had a 99 Camaro Convertable. It ran fine but was ugly. I sold it with C5 Vette rims on it. The kid I sold it to called me a week later asking if I had the original rims still and if I would sell them.

He said he didn't like "whatever rims I had put on the car" even after I told him they were C5 rims. He had no clue!

I told him he could buy two new front tires for the same price I would sell the orignal rims to him and have a better ride but he wanted to just go with what came on the car. Either way he was forced to shell out money for two front tires since the original set had two new and two old tires.

He also tried to turn and burn on me. He sanded down the car and put some primer on it and a new front bumper facia (way aftermarket, made the car look funny) that hit the ground. He asked for 4500, which was 3 grand more then I sold it to him. I didnt like the convertable and since he just came in the Army, had a big family already, I figured I was doing good for him. When I saw the car for sale I didnt know what to think other then wow and good luck getting 2500 for that car.
