Question buying a 95 v6 camaro need help with tires.

Hello all, I'm new here and buying a 95 camaro with a v6 (don't remember litre) from my brother in law, and he told me it's been wrecked on the passenger front side, and rebuilt. It has a problem of wearing the passenger front tire on the inside, and it pulls hard to the left. I don't have the car yet, as am waiting for the check from the bank, and haven't had much of a chance to look it over besides two test drives. I have a friend who has owned a 4th gen camaro and said to check the struts and get it aligned. Does this seem like a good place to start? I haven't owned a camaro in the past and have almost no knowledge in them. I figured a forum would be the best place to get any idea on what might be the problem. I know with it being wrecked it could be a number of things and am just trying to narrow it down to the most common causes before i jump too far into randomly replacing parts. I'm getting the car for only 1,500 and it runs great and is completely driveable as it is, but I want to get it repaired soon as to save on tires, and don't want any handling issues when winter hits as it will becoming my primary vehicle. Thank you for any help my might have, If anyone knows any good sites for first time comaro owners it would be great if you could post them, and I will post pics after I get the car and get a good look at the suspension. Thank you again!

I would start by taking it to an alignment shop. They usually will point out broke or bent parts before they align the car. Or in an extreme case, a Bent frame or Strut tower.

With the information they provide, you can replace the parts yourself or have them install them.

Welcome also!

Ok thank you I didn't even think about that for some reason. I'll probably take it in for an alignment the week after i get it. If it is the struts how hard is it to replace them?

Ok, I have a few places i can get a spring compresser to borrow, what am i looking at in price for a fix like this? I looked on ebay and it's about $200 for a set. Is that pretty much the norm? If i'm going to have to replace them i might as well go with new.

The problem is not your struts as you call them.

You car does not have struts. Its a comon mistake. You have coil over shocks. On a Double wish bone suspension. You do have Upper and lower Ball joints. If you have damaged componets causing an alignment issue it will be upper or lower ball joints or control arms Or something in the steering. The shock has no effect on alignment. The spring can effect riding height only but not the strut.

The third gen have struts. In a strut type suspension the strut is the upper control arm. On this kind of suspention the strut can cause a alignment issue

Ok I have a question and don't make fun i've never had a camaro b4. Isn't the suspension in all 4th gen whatever they be (z28, RS, 3.4v6) the same? I'm lookin at new suspension front and rear for mine, and found some but the guy says they are for a z28, but the frame is the same, so the suspension should be correct? I was just wondering so i could go back buy them and tell the guy he's full of it. (they are brand new with the boxes for $150, and they kyb shocks)

I wouldn't buy new suspension quite yet, you've still got an alignment problem. Like Gorn said, shock and spring don't affect alignment. Take to a place like Brakes Plus, they will inspect the steering components before aligning the car and tell you if anything is wrong. If you're lucky, nothing is bent or broken, and you get a cheap alignment! But Ball joints are wicked expensive....Had to get new ones on my 83 S15 4x4, and i decided to align it and sell it instead of new ball joints haha. Might've just been expensive cuz it was 4x4 though.
