Bumpy Ride...

Bumpy Ride...
Few questions here. First off i have an extensive background in lifted Jeeps and have good trouble shooting skills. Here is the issues i am having with the Camaro.
I noticed when going down the expressway and i hit a bump on a cambered road the front end would oscillate back and forth and would affect the steering the same. I checked out the ball joints, tie rod ends, bearing etc and all were good. I checked out the swaybar bushings and at first it seemed strange to see only one bushing above the bar. I am used to seeing two separated by washers on typical swaybar setups. I tightened both sides snug and test drove. Same results. About a week later i was checking out the suspension again and i had my son jack up one side. I peaked underneath and i saw a huge gap in between the lower and upper swaybar bushing. I knew right away that something was not right. I lowered the jack back down again and cut the wheel one way and removed the nut on the swaybar. The nut was bottoming out on the threads! I added another bushing and washer to the top It handled about 500% better! Am i correct in assuming it goes bushing washer bushing washer above the swaybar and bushing washer below it? Or do i have the wrong swaybar links?
It seems that the struts (or since it does not appear to be a true strut are they referred to as coil overs?) & shocks are all bad. They are all stock deCarbon's BTW. My next question is do the coils generally go bad or sag alot? Would i be ok just to replace the shocks up front and back? How do you check the strut mounts? The ride is literally bone jarring over bad spots in the road. It reminds me of the ride a lifted Jeep gives with a 4.5" lift and stock control arms lol. How about the a-arm bushings? Do they need go bad frequently? Whats the stock measurement from the center of hub to fender? Sorry about all of the questions but this camaro suspension is new to me.

check out sttano's site. sounds like you need new shocks and posibly sway bar bushings. may as well check out sams sway bars as well. the control arm bushing will go our on occation. can produce a banging noise and hard ride, ussually on turns. i would go with new shocks first. koni is one of the best shocks for these cars. bilsten makes an ok shock.

How many miles on the car? Chances are you need new shocks -- the OEM de Carbon/Delphi shocks are the weakest part of 4th Gens. Get some SLP Bilsteins, it will be night and day different.
By removing your old shocks, you can then check your front shock mounts. Are the springs OEM or aftermarket? Chances are, if OEM then springs are ok...
About the end link questions, post a picture or two.

Shocks all around for sure. Yes you are right they are not true struts, but coil over shocks in the front.
From your sig pic, the rear springs seem to look good. Can't say on the front till we can see another pic.
It's hard to say on the mounts till you get them out.

Ok your sway bar links are missing that one bushings as you noticed. There should be 4 bushings and 4 washers per side plus the spacer, bolt and nut. As for shocks they most likely are shot. The springs most like have sagged quite a bit if they are still the stock springs. If you do replace springs stay away from ebaich as they sag prematurely. Pick up some slp bilsteins as they are the best bang for for your buck. Also rim size and aspect ration will affect ride smoothness aswell. An 18" 35 245 will be alot rougher then a 18" 50 245 or even a 33" Mickey T mud terain tire.
