Default broken dashes

So i notice a lot of people talking about the dashes being cracked or broken, my 97s dash still looks in perfect condition(never ever ever waxed or polished in any way) and now its got about an inch of dust on most of it, i want to wipe it off but im woried about it melting off on my rag from some of these horror stories. Protips?

What you do is drive over to your local church. Bring some cleaner and some good rags. Park your car outside the church, run into the church, say a quick prayer, and then head out, start cleaning and see what happens.

All I can say is just be cautious when attempting to clean your dash. Mine blew apart when the air bags deployed, so I am not a good witness as to how to clean your dash. I am waiting till I get back to the main land to find a replacement (150 dollars or so). Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

LOL, the first thing that Green Arrow said when he saw my car in person was, "Your dash isn't cracked?".

Lol nice. Mine isn't either. knock on wood. When I clean it I just take a micro-fiber towel and wipe.

Just use water and a micro fiber cloth. I've used armorall but now it's just water and a micro fiber cloth. Mines still in good condition and it's been removed painted and reinstalled.

DONT USE ARMORALL!! It will make it crack if its hits with sun. Just use water without soap. Or if you are really worried get an air duster from a pc store.

From my experience with the dash pad they are very flimsy. i think the sun and the uv rays degrade the plastic over mine. i never had a crack in mine but when i took it out the thing literally fell apart. I think if you have a car without ttops or dont take them out much you wont be as prone to getting a crack because they have a little less body flex.

i got one brand new from gm. the plastic was much stiffer and it seemed alot thicker to. all in all i think i paid between 150-180 shipped through gm parts direct or another vendor like that. Like all things listed by gm its not called a dash pad when you look it up its called a crash pad. kinda like its not a shifter cable its a range selector lol.
