Book hours for 3.8 valve cover gaskets
My valve cover gaskets are shot, and I'm looking at replacing them. From what I can tell it looks like a PITA because of the engine hoist bracket on the back of the engine, and the small space you have to work with back there.
I was wondering if anyone has the book hours for this job so I can pay someone to do it. My mechanic has a book that goes up to 97 but it lists the 3.4 instead of the 3.8 engine, and he won't get his new expanded book until next week.
I'd try someone else but seeing as how his shop is right next to my work, I can't really pass up just walking across the parking lot to pick up my car

if your mechanic has long skinny arms he can accomplish this job in a matter of an hour to two hours tops. removal of the evap lines and your ignition box is not difficult. i can tear that lower intake manifold off that car in less than 40 minutes these days. haha.
Any tips on removing the engine hoist bracket? Should I go from below or from the front of the car?
What all has to be moved to pull the covers off? If it's nothing much I might do it myself, I just don't know how to get to that bracket.
