It has been done but it has been done to dedicated race cars with extreme mods. First off you have to consider the small block engine barely fits in the engine bay, second the BBC is about 2 inches wider. Hope you have some great fabrication skills.
Now let me ask you why would you want to put an engine in your car that has less HP than the one that is already in the car? Most BBCs are less than 300HP but the LT1 (300HP) and LS1 (315HP) are capable of producing much more. Oh and the LS series engines can get into the BB cubes and still fit in that small package that fits between the shock towers, and will prolly cost you far less.

you could but you would need a Z28 to donate all the goodies that the V6 car does not have to start with. Just buy a Z28 and mod the LS1 or get another LS series engine to fit, FORGET putting a V8 in a V6 car.

Well im stuck with this car for atleast 2 more years, some offered me a transam with a lt1 in it for 1500, its a parts var tht has most the interior striped out and a couple other things but all its engine parts and tranny back to the axel is all intact, so I was just gonna drop the craddle and tranny and axel out and throw it under the maro, is tht a good idea?

It will be a huge pain. It would be a lot easier to buy a complete LT1 car with a blown headgasket and have two cars.
If you could find a 98 LS1 doner car it would be a lot better then trying to make a LT1 computer work with a newer system. If its a 96-97 Transam it might not too bad but by the time you are done you will be an expert at automotive computer systems
For what these cars are worth it is just not worth all the work. You can buy a cars that just need some motor work for next to nothing and have a second car for half what it would cost you to do the convertion and 1/10th the work and when you where done you would have two good value cars. You do the convertion and your car will be next to worthless. Infact most converted car get parted out because very few will buy a converted car.

Alright, you know ill trust u guys cause u know what ur talking about. For my v6 I was planning on getting it headers pipes a cai performance programmer new performance coils, any other things I could improve on? I looked up some sort of mod that eliminates the coils and is replaced with something I dont recall the name, but would this be a good upgrade and since it has its own performance options would this get in the way of the programmer?
