I'm going to go with the CIA headers, and the Magnaflow universal cat conv and the 2.5" exhaust. I think the catback is a good compromise between Flowmaster and the Borla.

I am new the forum but I just bought a 1998 camaro with the 3.8 series II engine. The car is an automatic. I removed the cat and my torque, gas mileage, and everything improved. The SES light DID NOT come on. I have a question about what exhaust will sound the best. I have an idea about putting a flowmaster in the place of the cat and then running duels all the way back instead of putting the muffler under the rear of the car. Any ideas help. Thanks

I think you need to also consider upgrading the stock S-Pipe:

magnaflow soulds a little better,

to make a v6 camaro sound good, you need to put headers, KEEP THE CAT, and borla
($800+) catback,

I went with the Borla, the advantage is the sound is adjustable with different restrictor plates on the passenger side between the flanges:

Last I checked, Autoanything.com had the best price, either wait for their 15% sale, or use a Bing Cashback discount...

Thanks to both of you. I have had several older cars and unlike the camaro the muffler is under the car before the rearend. I was just curious if i was to upgrade the s-pipe and put the muffler where the cat was would that take way some of the rasp. i know it will not sound like a v8 but i dont want it to sound like crap. thanks

What muffler would sound best if I did the setup with the muffler in the place of the cat and then dualed back?

FYI, with my RS' exhaust removed from the S-Pipe junction back, it doesn't sound all that bad, and with more bass... Never-the-less, I would not recommend it. ;-)

Scroll up, and you will see the pic. The order from front to back is:
Manifolds
Y-Pipe
Cat
S-Pipe
Mid-Pipe
Muffler
