Bad Fuel Gage Reading
Help!!! I just installed a new fuel sender unit from Rock Automotive....I'm still getting a bad reading on the gage....granted it's different from before....but it's still not right. What needs changing now? Just for the record I've put over 8000 bucks into this 94 Camaro 3.4L V6 (5 speed manual) in the past 3 years.......please someone tell me you know what it is.

the fuel gauge is pretty inaccurate (along with all the other gauges) my 3.4 was empty at about an 1/8th and my Z28 is empty and just under a 1/4... its the shape of he tank and the way the sending unit has to bend

Are you sure you didn't bend the float arm while installing the sending unit? If you have to "fight" the thing in or out, you can tweak the rod, throwing off the reading. A nice easy slip-in of the sending unit is key.

My Z/28 is empty at under an 1/8th tank but still not accurate lol.

well no sir the unit slipped in rather gently actually......its accurate from empty to a half tank.....i'm getting 450 miles per tank to I might have to just keep it that way.......if anybody else knows anything concerning this I'd appreciate it.......one of my friends said he thought that maybe the instrument cluster was oxidizing, but if it was I would imagine that the other gages would be affected as well.

lol....yeah man....this vehicle has used amzoil its entire life all around....it gives me tremendous fuel economy.....as long as I use premium 100% gasoline i get a little over 30mpg.......pretty amazing huh, especially for a sports car.

Whats more is that I just replaced the stock fuel injectors 3 days ago (231,000 miles). I haven't had the opportunity yet to see the new mileage. But I can tell you right now that the throttle response is night and day different.

the gauge is the way it is. when full its way over the full mark, when at 3/4 its about 1/2 depending on the car, some run out at about 1/4 and some go all the way to e but will drop at a fast rate as it does. the tank is set sideways and is shaped odd. that means it drops slow to start with (the big side of the tank is the top) and once it gets to half way (skinny end) it drops fast.
