So driving I ground the gears going into second didnt sound bad but it sounded a little off. And now driving it wont downshift into second, like its locked up. shifts to second fine from first feels a little more ruff but went in without a hitch, but going back into second from 3rd or 4th doing slow speeds even like 30-40mph, or even 10mph it doenst go in, but if I go into first then it goes into second. And it goes in if I rev it up to like 3 and a half grand, Im hopeing there is a good reason for this, but I figure I broke a tooth on the sink-row. so am I royally boned? cars only been in my possesion for exactly 2 weeks now.

 

The synchro is pretty much fried.

I ground second pretty hard in my Z and had the same issue. After a few mos. of normal driving that syncro wore back in. It's still abit stingy downshifting 3-2 sometimes, but it's getting better. Try double clutching your downshifts, see what that dose for ya.

 

Synchros are made of soft metals. They may sometimes "ware" back into a usable shape.

 

so I was driving it today, to show my buddy how it wouldnt go in, and he saw it the first time and it wouldnt but the second time it went right in and ahs been working since. Now I could be wrong but isnt there soem shift assist thing, because second wouldnt grind at all even when I pulled off the clutch trying to jam it in? But either way it works perfectly agian now is there any reason for this happening now?
