Default Alternator going?

When I'm at a stop n idling the battery gage dips significantly n then comes back up. It then stays up for acouple seconds (10-20) and then drops back down. Each time this happens the battery power gets alittle lower until I start driving again. Am I right when I guess the alternator is going?

Could also have a battery with a dead cell. Most parts stores will test both free of charge. I believe you will have to remove the alt for them to test it though.

do you clean your motor with a water hose? having same prob, opened up the alt, rust on the brushes. can wait to see, but that is more than likely the prob. at night let it start doing this, with the car running, tape on the alt(BE CAREFUL) and you'll prob see spar
