Default advice on pulling transmission?

I need to pull my automatic transmission (2000 3.8l camaro/4L60E) to rebuild it. is it reasonable to do it on the garage floor without a lift? any tips or tricks you would suggest? how do i get the quick connect fittings off the cooler lines? any help is appreciated? thanks

It is a lot easier if you have a tranny jack but you can use a hydralic floor jack with a block of wood on top of the jack, ( protect the pan on the tranny) to support the it as you lower it to the floor. Most rental places have the transmission jacks that they rent. I am not sure about the quick connects. The ones I have removed have come out with the engine and I disconnect the lines at the radiator/oil cooler when doing that. I usually set the rear of the car up on a couple of old wheels that have tires mounted, then jack the front of the vehicle up and set on jack stands, leaving a floor jack in place under the engine cradle for more safety. mark and pull the driveshaft and lower the tranny mount. It will tilt the engine so that you can get better access to the tranny mounting bolts at the top Remove the starter, mark relationship of torque converter and fly wheel and remove the torque converter bolts before lowering the tranny mounts.
