Adapting a GTP supercharger to a camaro
Hey guys looking toadapt apontiac grand prix gtp supercharger to a stock 1999 v6 camaro. How difficult is the install and how should i go about doing it? Or is there another easier/ cheaper solution for super/ turbo charging my vehicle?
Thanks,

it is unnecessarily difficult. unfortunately they dont sell the 3.8 SC kits for camaros anymore, so your best bet is to ebay a used one. a centrifugal SC is your best bet becaus worst case you may be able to piece most of it together and will need to have someone fabricate a little connecting tubing for you.
that being said, i am not sure why someone doesnt make an intake manifold for the camaro 3.8 which has the same top end of the GTP [&:], the number of requests we get here alone would make that worth while

I answered this in the other thread he posted. On the L67, the injectors are in the heads. On the L36 (camaro), they are in the lower intake manifold. That's what makes it that much more difficult.
ALSO THE SUPERCHARGER IS BUILT INTO THE ENGINE ITSLEF, ITS NOT NECESSARILY SOMETHING YOU CAN TAKE FROM THE GTP ENGINE AND APPLY TO THE CAMARO 3.8, I HAVE ALREADY LOOKED INTO DOING THAT TO MY04 GP GT.

the SC is swapped pretty regularly in the GTP's, however the intake manifold from the GT's and the camaros doenst fit it, so you have to fit the intake manifold, which has different ports to the heads, so then you have to match the heads, and once you have the intake on, you have to get new intake tubing to match up to the SC.
I know this is an old thread, but I'm new here.
Couldn't the Cylinder heads be pulled from the Pontiac/Buick motor along with the supercharger and put on the Camaro? Should the Pontiac/Buick computer be swapped as well?
Just curious.

GM actually did the swap into a Firebird but deemed the whole setup too expensive.

You can put a supercharger on any car, the issue is how optimal is the design. The biggest issue with the GM FWD supercharger is the basic design will not fit the body design of the 4th gen. The intake for the supercharger is in the back of the intake. The stock thottle body would mount about where you radio is. Also as designed a intercoolers is tuff to add to the FWD and there is no room to add it to the Camaro height wize. Can it be done? yes. Has it been done? yes. Is it worth doing? no. Blowing Hot compressed air into a motor that was design to get cool fresh air is not a great way to gain HP.
Stock GM supercharger without an intercooler on a NA motor is going to add a max of 50 Hp (thats being hopefull). That will require a pile of custom made parts and a custom tune. OR for half what this would cost to add a supercharger you could buy a CAM off the shelf and add some bolt ons and get 60+hp
