Understanding the specs/performance on the 99 and later Camaros, it seems that there is a close contest between some of those earlier model GTs and the 4th Gen. V6. Has anyone seen/know firsthand how the 2 cars fair? If so, wheres a good place to start looking at mods in the Camaro to gain the HP to hang with those stock 5.0s (If there are any stock 5.0s out there). Thanks

 

It shouldn't take too much to beat the old stock 5.0's. I had a 97 3.8, with just a cold-air intake, weld-in Flowmaster, and beat a 5.0 vert. I think it was an auto, as was mine. The 3.8 is quite the peppy motor, very quick. Wish I would have kept mine. I'm now lookin for another one.

 

the old 5.0's are usually rated for about 260 hp, with the cobra at about 280-300 depending on the condition. so its possible

 

Yeah they can depending on the driver...me and a few guys in my town have beaten the 5.0 mustang with the 4.0 liter jeep cherokees. I always wondered if the was possible till it happened...
