Default 98 Camaro V6 HP ideas?

I got a 98 V6 camaro today, i was wanting to go the sleeper route and put a ls1 into it but if the engine is good, (it was suppose to have a blown head gasket, but oil is not milky, no water) I was wanting to give it some go fast parts just to have the fastest v6 around here, the first thing I thought of was nitrous, then I thought of turbos. but what can make a v6 camaro into the mid to low 13's? or high 12s?
can anyone give me some ideas until i get my LS1 built?

If you want a sleeper then get a Z28 and remove the badges, it is a lot simpler than doing this swap, trust me here, I have assisted in the process.

As for the V6 having a blown head gasket, that is all very posible and not all blown head gaskets put water in the oil. use a tool like this LISLE 75500 - COMBUSTION LEAK DETECTOR CHECKS BLOCKS-HEADS-GASKET | SJDiscounttools.com to check for exhaust gasses in the cooling system. Or the good 'ol compression test.

going to do the compression test tomorrow, I got this car on a trade, straight up for my old project bmw, the bmw wouldnt ever get finished so i figured, why not? As for the z28 thing, I thought about just putting the front end on my 93 z28, debadging it, and putting those wheels that are on the 98 onto it. But I just like the idea of a nitrous'd v6. or a turbo'd v6. People just wouldnt expect it.

There are kits for this engine to run nitrous, but no really good turbo kits out there. Check out Musicman's sleeper build, he has a twin turbo 3.8L That thing is way cool.

People really have what a sleeper is all mixed up. There is no such thing as a camaro sleeper. Camaro is a sport coupe. The factory installed the biggest and the badest in the Camaro. You pull up in a Camaro jugging away no one is going hey look it does not have Z28 badges it must be slow. Heck most people have no clue that only Z28 have V8's in the 4th gens.

A sleeper is a 1981 4 door Malibu or a Caprice wagon.

Most of the time when a 3800 blows a head gasket it blows between the combustion chamber and the coolant gallery. This does not cause coolant in the oil. Head gaskets on a 3800 is pretty common. If the guy selling the car said it had a blown head gasket there is a good chance it does.

Making a 3800 fast is very expensive. For what it would cost you to get you 3800 in to 12's you could buy blown lt1 car build a into the 11's (LT1 car+build is less then just the 3800 build )

Gorn, My definition of a sleeper would be a v6 car. like the civette car, you wouldnt know it had a vette engine until you raced it.
On a unrelated note; My birthday is today. Happy birthday to me.

Well a 12 second 3800 will sound a lot meaner then a stock LS1. Your not going to Fool anyone into thinking it is not a fast car. Which is what a sleeper is. The problem with the Camaro being a sleeper is eveyone assume a Camaro is fast until they see it race then they will say it must be a V6, Since the V8's are running low 13 stock even if you build the heck out of a V6 they will just assume its a V8.

If you are refering to a Chevette they came with very poor 4 cylinders, GM never put anything else in a Chevette so anything fast in a Chevette would be the ultimate sleeper.
