97 camaro acceleration problem

Default 97 camaro acceleration problem

whenever i give it a little gas itll rev to like 3k before hitting like 15-20 mph..then itll jerk back when i give it more gas...oh and when i get on the highway!!! it revs high then makes a loud noise so i let go of the gas..and struggles to get up to speed and you can still feel the car jerking back while driving..any suggestions

So... I'm guessing it's an automatic? Do you have any info about your car?

When's the last time you changed plugs and wires, and used a few tanks of fuel system cleaner? Always start with the easy stuff first... Are you getting any codes?

yes its an automatic 3.8 im gonna try tomorrow and replace plugs and wires again, no codes yet

Hmm.. I think I had something like that happen with my 97 RS and it turned out it was my distributor. Not sure if that's what it'll be again?

Your 97 didnt have a distributor, it sounds like a misfire, plugs and wires would be an inexpensive place to start. That and like liberty said run a few tanks of a good fuel injector cleaner through it, never hurts anything thats for sure.
