96 3.8 problem
Hey guys,
I have a 96 rs that i am working on swapping to a v8. I have a salvaged z28 so its not that bad of a swap. Im not having a problem with this part of the build, i have a blown head on the 3.8 thats in there and im not ready for the engine swap yet and need the car to run until that time. Now i got the valve cover upper and lower off and its looks like **** in there. From what i can tell all the anti frezz mixed into the engine and now its just a muddy looking mess. I'm replacing all the gaskits but i was wondering what i could use to claen out the **** in the motor. i dont want to get it all back together and have something put it down again. I still have to remove the heads and all but just needed some advice on way to clean it out. Engine is still in the car and i dont have a way at this time to remove it to clean it real good.

If you really have antifreeze in the engine oil the motor is done. Sorry bro. Antifreeze reacts to the babit that is on bearing. It will strip the bearing send metal all through the motor. Back in the day the only time GM would automatically approve a complete new motor was if there was block damage or antifreeze in the oil.
Antifreeze in the oil looks like a brown milk shake it will even foam up in spots like the head of a milkshake. It sure sounds like that is what you are describing.

yea that's what it looks like, light brown with white streaks. looks like i have to pull the engine and store the car until i can start the swap. Really didnt want to have to put her down so soon i only had the car for 3 months, hell the insp is good till 5 of 2010 lol. It will be at least 3 months before i can start the z28 swap but i guess that gives me more time to save and do some more homework on the suspension and front end.
