Crank position sensor should be located on the front of the engine right behind the crank pulley. Signs would be bad idle and major miss firing of it even starts and runs.

My 1995 Camaro V6 3.4 was working fine until someone who was attempting to fix my dashlights took my panel apart and went under the steering column. There were two orange wires that were cut but twisted together and he un twisted them and twisted them back together. After this the car would not crank. Very upset I attempted to check fuses and no fuses were blown the security light would stay on as I tried to crank it. I then called GM and they came to tow the car and repaired the wires that were stripped and replaced the ignition cylinder, still no crank. I do not understand what is going on with my car. It did this a time before but cranked the very next day. Also GM said that it would cost me $300 for a new security module that I may need to get it to crank. The problem is my bill is already $460. I need advice on what to do and what the problem could be if this is familiar to anyone.
