Default 95 3.4 engine options?

Forgive me if this has been covered. If it has please point me as to where. I have a 95 3.4l and I know it is a huge dollar figure to swap to an lt1. So can I swap to a 3.8l? Is there a point? I know from what I've read that a 3.8l is more modable. Would I need to change drive shafts wiring harness rear-end. Will it bolt right into place and can I keep everything else that is already there. Do things change from year to year. Any info would be helpfull

confused best option if you got to keep the 3.4l is to find an engine ,but parts are harder to find i am sure someone talked about the 3.4l just being not worth it,your better off to find 3800 base ,then find an engine to put in that ,or just save 3k for a nice 3800 i had just seen 97 5 speed hard top 3800 $1500.00 make offer .just needed clutch work with 81k on it,sold for $1200.00 those cars are all over craigs list ,the cars are out there by the tons more the zs8 cars or ss cars ,bace models come a Dime a Dozen just need to shop alot an find the right one

moved the conversation to its own thread for you. many parts with the 95 is a 1 year deal as are the 94 and more so the 93. the 3.4 has a differnt bolt pattern for the trans so engine that will bolt to your trans is limited. computers, sensors and wiring are different for each different engine and different again with the trans.

I try to steer new members away for the 3.4 just for this reason, The newest used engine you can find is 22 years old. Remanufacture is your only real option unless you get lucky and find a wrecked one that has a reman engine in it.

You can buy a running 3800 car for what it will cost you to buy and install a reman engine. If you do a reman engine the only way to get your money out of the car is in miles because you will not get it in cash. You will need to drive that car till the wheels fall off.

Thanks for making my own thread. Makes me feel a part of. Lol. I kind of knew my options were limited. I really new to cars and working on them. I traded my 88 jeep for this 95 camaro and only Pais 550 for the jeep and ran it for a year. Needing a new head gasket I think. It's burning a bit of oil and smells like the gas mixture is rich. Also there is a tick from the engine so I think the rings are on the way out. Kind of why I was thinking a new engine. Is it worth it for me to rebuild this one or like it has been said just buy another running z28 or 3800. Just looking for ideas and thoughts. Thanks to all replying

change the oil, tick is probly a lifter. do you know what weight of oil is in it now, maybe use 10-30 and see if it gets better. check your fuel pressure, high or low pressure can give the exhaust a gas smell. also check plugs for fouling (all black) maybe have a look at the 02 sensors and make sure they are not fouled.

Expecting a snow storm here. Very rare for Vancouver Island. I plan to do another oilchange when it all melts in a week. Already have 10w 30 to go in it. Before I got the advice not to I possibly regret adding stp engine stuff. Kind of like bars leak but for engine. Just drained the rad and put new antifreeze in it. Had to replace the heater core. I'd just like it to run well for a bit I guess. Love the camaro. Already thinking about buying another when this one......well you know. Don't want to jinx it.
