Default 94 V6 Idle Problems

Im new here and have a question to ask. Just about 2 weeks ago, i was driving to work when my car got stuck in 2000-2500 RPM. It will not go lower than 2000 rpm. I was just sifting like always at the 2500 rmp mark, but when i whent to nutrual on a red light it started to happen. I took it to the neighborhood mechanic, and he suggested to change the Idle Control Valve and the TP sensor. I did and my car does the same thing. Yesterday i checked for any vacumme leaks and could not find any. Now he tells me i need to buy a EGR valve whickis 169 dollars at AutoZone. Can some one suggest something else i can do.

Check the linkage from gas pedal to the throttle body & make sure the throttle plate closes down all the way, make sure there is nothing, such as dirt, holding the throttle plate from closing, also check the return springs. Check cruise control cables, and TV cable, if the car uses one, for binding. I am not sure that an EGR valve stuck open could cause a fast idle, but you can pull it out and clean out all the carbon build up. You can also try resetting the computer so that it relearns the idle speed. Disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes, connect it back and restart the car. each time the car is restarted it should bring the idle speed closer to where it should be.
