Well after a 100 mile trip with no temp guage i come to and exit ramp with steam rolling out of my hood so i stop and let her cool down and get her the last mile or so i had to go then parked her where she is now. I'm planning on tearing it down and rebuilding it i have a parts list compiled that i would like opinions on.
Head Gasket Set
Intake Manifold Gasket Set (contains all gaskets for intake, valve covers and ect.)
Exaust Manifold Gaskets
Rod Bearings
Oil pan gasket
Also if anyone knows off hand i need to know the torque specs for the head bolts and intake (upper and lower). Hopefully i can get this damn thing running again before the end of January...

You need to take a good look at the crank journals, and if there is no scoring, mike each journal & see if they need undersize bearings. If they are scored, the crank will need to be reground. Check the connecting rods, especially the big end. If a rod bearing has spun, that rod will have to be resized. At this point you should consider a ring job, depending on the mileage. Get a set of plastigage and make sure you have proper clearances when you reassemble the engine. Don't forget assembly lube. The3.4 use torque to yield head bolts, which means you should get a new set of head bolts.

well z28pete, it looks like i'll be picking your brian through out the rebuild lol. I finally got the girl home and got to look at her and turns out there is a freeze plug missing. i have no idea how i would've lost it unless overheating blew it out somehow. But its the one on the passenger side of the block forward of the starter by the motor mount almost. So i'm going to stick one in it tomorrow if i can and most likely get the temp sensor for the gauge as in my other post and check and make sure that the cooling system and oil are still separate. as of now there is no coolant in the oil but i want to be sure. Smelling the oil it has a weird smell to it though almost like a kerosene smell. so i'm going to change it as i had already planned to. and if the cooling system holds fast with just water then i'll drain it back out untill the new gaskets are in then fill up with good ol' non-clogging green antifreeze. IMHO i hate dex cool and won't even use the prestone stuff that is compatable with both.

Fussy people that follow FSM procedures. LOL
If the block has been aligned bored, the crankshaft reground, the connecting rods rebuilt, and you trust the machine shop that did the job there is no need to check with plastigage.
See attachment for FSM procedure. Notice that each bearing is plastigaged and customer charged.
