Default 94 3.4 backfire/no start

Hello,
I am new here. from Saskatoon. I have a 7 year project, write off, that ran when I bought it. Last year it started to backfire while starting. This year it tried to start but backfired like gunshots going off. Blow a 12inch hole through my car cover, guess it wasn't a good idea to leave it part way on.LOL. Could the timing jumped? Thanks for the replies .Don

Could be a bad coil/wire/plug. I would start by changing your plugs and wires and see if that fixes it.

Default purring like a dragon

Well I am relieved that I didn't go buy all the stuff to fix the timing chain,$250.00. But choked that I couldn't figure out what was so wrong. Today I cleaned the fouled plugs of soot and put the $5.00 wires on from wreckers, acdelcos.and wrrooom first turn of key. Very happy but down also. Now rear shocks, find leak in transmission and off to get a safety inspection and clear the ses and airbag light,$300.00. It smokes a bit but will see about fixing that later, make sure everything works for a while.
Thanks for the help. Been here alot - not sure if I was a member before but I am now.

They do safety inspections in Saskatchewan? I thought it was if it runs it goes? Gla to hear it started. Do your rear shock when you drop your tranny. Is it a manual or auto?
