Start a build thread and take some pictures. You will help members understand what is involved in a swap. It will be nice to see from a person who has not done a Camaro before. If you need any help with posting pics or anything just ask. And of course if you need any info on the project you will gt a lot more help if people are following along.

Good luck either way.

ok what we did was do the basics ( take out the wireing, unbolt everything includeing radiator, took off the alt.all the air flow systems, unbolted the bottom and dropped it.) the only thing that we still need to do is install the clutch pedal assembly and all the hydrolics and place the new engine and tranny in. its a good thing we started doing this because the baces that hold everthing were just rusted and the a-arms were all rusted (both of which are getting replaced.)

I still don't understand how you are doing the computer system? The 96 is an OBD 2 system it connects to every major module in the car. The 94 does not. Won't the computer set a check engine light when it can not find the ABS system or the air bag? How about the Vats system? I have seen the Vats system just programmed out but just not there? I know the computer will not let the car start without the Vats system hooked up. Do you have the Vats system from the 96 and the ignition cylinder? Wow this project seems like it will be a lot of electrical work and a ton of research.

Please keep us up to date on how things are going.

Gonna need every single bit of the wiring harness, from ABS, to tranny control, exhaust, to engine.

I think the hook up is all the same. the engine is coming out of a 96. the guy put this 3.8 in his car, and got the engine from a 98, and from what i can see, and what he has used, the hook up is still the same. As far as the vats is concerned, im not sure. ill have to research it.

Got the gauge cluster too? Props on doing this, not something I would attempt.

I would love to hear more details. I am not surprised a 98 and a 96 where a lot a like since both are OBD2 system. OBD2 was a federal mandate to the auto makers they had no choice but to do a major upgrade. The fact that every thing just hooked right up goes against all the research I have done.

The 3.8 engines are basically the same from 96-when they ended. The differences is in accessories, intake manifold, oil pan, etc. The long block is the same in essence. I thought the 98's had the straight mani with electric TB's, maybe it was 99 when they went to that.
