4th gen V6 questions
Ok I used to own a 98 camaro with a v6. I am looking to get another one. First question, I am looking for a manual transmission. I have noticed that they only 5-speeds I can find do not have t-tops. Are there any v6 5-speeds with t-tops out there? Second question, I have noticed that parts for the v6 engine are split in 99. Is there a big difference between the v6 engine in '98 and the engine in '00?
Thanks in advance guys.

I am pretty sure that there are 5 speed manuals wit T-tops. You should check into autotrader. And I have a Camaro 2000 V6 and I looked into a 99 and i think it looked the same but I dont no
I don't know about the 98's, but I have a 2000 V6 5-speed with t-tops, so they are out there, but you may have to go a year or two later than 98. As far as your engine questions are concerned, I dont know a whole lot about the 98 engine, but my buddy has one and from what I can tell they are very similar. As far as perfomance is concerned with these 2 engines, mine will out-run his any day of the week, but I also have a 5-speed where-as his is an automatic (both are stock except for flowmasters on each). If you're die-hard about having t-tops and can't find a 98' or 99' with any, I would just go for a 00'. You can find one for the same price as older ones if you just take the time to look. I'm sure you know by now that camaros are all over the place, so you'll find what you want eventually.
Thank you guys for the input. I bought the 98 with auto because at the time I had a 45 min, bumper to bumper drive every day. Driving a manual sucked. I was still impressed with the V6 auto. If the manual is that much faster I can't wait to get my hands on one.

The later models went from a 60 deg 3.4 v6 to a 90 deg 3.8 V6. The 3.8 makes more power.

regarding all 3.8 cars (roughly 96+... some 95 california cars had 3.8's btw.)
there is a straight throttle body setup on 99+ cars. on 98+ cars there is a different intake setup than pre 98 but the tb is still angled. on (i believe) 2000+ cars the manifolds are tubular instead of the log style ones. there are other differences too. later cars usually seem to come with a 1 piece driveshaft, and all later cars had disks in back instead of drums.
