3800 seriesII swap to L32
I've had my '98 3800 seriesII for 15 months now...and for my first car i've been quite happy with its preformance...it's got a nice get up and go for a v6 and its a great car for a new driver...but i've been craving more power...i have to get a v6 to keep my insurance costs down...and its nice not to have the gas guzzling v8...so i've decided to swap the 3800 seriesII for a seriesIII L32...the L32 (for those who don't know) is a supercharged v6 found in the 04 Grand Prix GTP....Here are the specs
260hp @ 5400 rpm
280tq @ 3600 rpm
8.5:1 Compression
It seems like just the type of upgrade i need...i know i could buy a supercharger...but i plan on selling my engine cus i'm needing an engine with fewer miles cus i think i'm up too high in mileage for a supercharger...so im just going to get a new L32...but the problem is i have no idea how to get ahold of one...nor do i have a ballpark figure of the costs here...i imagine i would have to purchase a new tranny aswell...but any help with costs and info would be a tremendous help...thank you

RE: 3800 seriesII swap to L32
im not sure yet...i know i wont sell it for at least 4 more months though...and by then it will depend on the amount of miles and if i have any problems...as of yet i've had no engine problems and 81K miles...but if i happen to find i good enough deal on an SS i'll sell my car for $8,000...i didn't want to have an 8 cylinder, but i got a new higher paying job...so i may just fork over some extra cash...but if and when i decide to sell it...i'll make sure to post it.

before you even think about this:
the supercharger wont even fit up there due to how far back the engine sits. there are firewall/windshield clearance issues. search the topic on www.camarov6.com
its been brought up quite often.
