Default 3800 series v6 to LT-1 swap

im currently in the middle of doing a v6 to v8 swap on my 96 camaro. I got the lt1 out of a 97 SS and im almost done with it. I was wondering if the t5 from the v6 will bolt up and if not will the bellhousing come off so i can put another on to make it work ? I know if the t5 bolts up it will not last long but i need something for right now, running short on funds.

You can try a 305 Bell housing of a 3rd gen Camaro but your going to spend a lot of money getting a clutch that would hold up to the torque. The V6 clutch will not work with the V8 Fly wheel. The Bell housing must be from a Camaro. The truck 4.3 will bolt up but it will cause you shifter issues.

How can you be almost done if you don't have a tranny for it yet?

Just a friendly heads up. You did get the radiator from the Z? They are reverse flow you cannot make the V6 work without it being a huge pain. The v6 rad is not big enough anyways. If you are using the 97 computer there are a lot of changes in the wiring 96 to 97. You best bet would be to find a manual trans 96 Z PCM and harness this will avoid a wiring nightmare. You’re going to need a 96 LT1 instrument cluster also. The V6 cluster will be off on everything. The 97 cluster is a different design. If you already have the 97 PCM it can reflashed to 96 specs.
It would be great if you could share more about the project. A build thread in the project area would be great!
Good luck

What computer system do you have? The 4L60e is controlled by a computer so you need the PCM and harness from an automatic car. The Th350 will need to be fitted with a speed sensor that will work with your PCM. The easiest way to do this swap is with a donor car. You may be able to find a wrecked, damaged motor, car for less then buying all these pc parts. Remember the PCM connect to all the sub systems crossing years can be a huge pain for someone who cannot trouble shoot. I have known guys to give up on projects like this only to find out they just needed to switch 2 wires on the security system and she fired right up.
This is a link to a site that tell you what all you need to change when crossing years. Note, the small matrix at the bottom of the page, they just use letters but one letter can be a lot of work. Especially when it indicates changing the in dash wiring harness.
