3.8V6
Well im just slightly curious what was the point of upgradeing the 97 V6's to 3.8's as the standard for F-body V6's? I meen couldnt they of just waited and up graded on the 98' when the body style was redone? Only thing that comes to mind personally is that they upgraded for the 30th edition Camaro.....what yall think?

RE: 3.8V6
The 3.4L was dropped in favor of the 3.8L in mid-year 1995.
I'm betting GM figured it could get another engine in its stable and be OBD2/emissions ready than try to tweak the 3.4L with its wretched intake manifold and heads killing that engine on its own...
So, really, it had nothing to do with any anniversary.

1995 - The 3800 II V6 was produce for California Camaro's to keep the Camaro CARB certified.
1996 - The rest of the country now gets the more powerful 3.8 V6 (200hp). This means that the weakest '96 Camaro is more powerful than the most powerful '84 Camaro.

RE: 3.8V6
GM dropped the motor because they switched it in just about all the v-6 cars, grand prix, bonneville, impala, montecarlo most all olsmobile's. it was cheaper, more reliable, more powerful and could be made to fit FWD and RWD with good MPG's
