I've beaten one AUTO 3.8 Series II. I have hung with two but they out beat me. No doubt 3.8 is superior to 3.4 but when I do the 3400 intake manifold and head swap this summer my 3.4 will be able to beat a 3.8. And that is only a $250 mod i've got a friend that has worked on cars for 25 years or more so I always have one of the best mechanics around. You guys should see his 72 Camaro
it is a f8ckin monster.

There is a 40 hp difference and a difference of 25 in the torque deparment. It's going to take more than an intake and catback exhaust to make up for that difference.
Absolutely. It is laughable (at best) to think CAI's and a muffler do that much in the grand scheme of things.

On the other hand, a port/polish of the heads and intake manifolds plus a cam could get you on par with 3.8L power output.

Uh huh, the 3.4L iron heads flow that bad.

Also, if emissions inspections aren't an issue (I lose there...), the aluminum top end swap is a possibility.

The 3.8L got better heads, that's about it. The 3.4L is a better revver and is naturally balanced. If the 3.4L had the benefit of better tweaking from the factory, that's a hell of a combo to beat. Then again, that's neither here nor there...

I wouldn't say the 3.8 is Vastly better. the only weakness of the 3.4 is the intake manifold. Anyways I don't hate 3.8's they are a great engine. It still upsets me that my girlfriends SSEI Bonneville is a supercharged 3800 and they didn't figure out a way to supercharge a camaro 3.8. That SSEI bonneville is vicious man it's got a performance shift mode that shifts at about 5k. Same as a GTP I suppose.

This is all I need for my 3.4.... The 3400 intake and heads

I can get a the intake and heads off a 2000 Grand am gt for 250 Bucks.
Other Flaws of GM and the 3.4 in Performance is the 17lb injectors that are good for only 160 horsepower.
so does any one know the size of the injectors in the GT 3400?

are the 3800's thaat are in the 96-97's the same as the 98-02 3.8? Because i drove a 99 3.8 today and it was awesome.
Also found a B4C interceptor LT1 z28 cop car. it's jet black the wierd thing is that the B4C models dont put z28 on the side the put the v6 CAMARO badges on the side. It is a true B4C I told the car dealer how to make sure it was an interceptor and he was amazed. I believe they have 1LE intake coupler and the 1LE larger sway bars .
