Default 3:42 gears

hey can sombody hit me with a link for 3:42 gears that will fit in my 97 3.8 ive found some stuff on summit but theres like 15 of em and im not dead sure which ones will fit thnx guys

10-bolt 7.625 dia Gear Set (gear & pinion)3:42 ratio for3rd or 4th Gen Camaro/Firebird. If you planning a gear swap you also need to know what series carrier you have. Also you need to more research before buying parts and this is not a DIY job. It would also help to know if you have a manual/auto and your present gear ratio.

oh believe me freind i fully know its not a diy kinda thing. sorry i didnt provide more info ive been around here quite a while most people know the stats on my car but its A4 with the stock 3:02s i believe.

Have you considered getting a rear end from a Z? Disc brakes, limited slip, 3.42's. You can usually find them for cheap, like $200-300...

(a4 = A 3.4l i think) I have a question though, Lets say I know this guy... running the stock 3800 v6 engine will putting in the 3.42 gears on the car instead of the 3.08 gears be too much for the engine and cause it to lose performance? Do you get what I am saying?

i have stan im accuatally reserching the priceing of adding 3:42s and a LSD versus finding one in good shape here weve had too much snow to go junk yard hunting

and A4 stands for automatic 4 speed

and no 3:42s will not harm your engine preformance packages came with 3:42s stock

Lol 3.4 l sounded logical to me, anyways which package was it that came with the 3.42s on the v6?
