Default 3.4 or 3.8?

i currently have a 2.8, i want more performance for my car and the 2.8 wont support my needs. i would really like a v8 but gas is already hard enough for me so i wanna stick to the v6. ive been told the 3.4 v6 would be a pretty direct and easy swap and would deliver more performance along w/ a better platform to work w/. Nobody mentioned the 3.8 v6 to me. id like to have the 3.8 over the 3.4, is there a reason nobody said nething about the 3.8? will it not fit right? the wires/computer not compatible?

whatever u got, post it

im pretty sure that to swap in a 3.8, it would be some issues involved with the computer and such. for more info, see the FAQ on the 2.8-3.4 swap

Default RE: 3.4 or 3.8?

I've done 2.8 to 3.4 swaps on Pontiacs without any major problems. The computer had to be recalibrated to handle the larger motor. I haven't tried this swap on Camaros, but it should be pretty straight forward. The Camaro block is slightly different because of the longitudinal configuration as compare to the Pontiac's transverse. The 3.8 is a little different because it is a 90 degree V6 as compared to the 2.8/3.4 which are 60 degree. The engine is as wide as a v8 so you will need all the mounts, acessory drives, exhaust and intake plumbing, and whatever else is peculiar to the 3.8. You will need a good set of schematics for both the 2,8 and 3.8, especially the computer connectors pinouts, to make sure all the wires are connected to where they need to go. You could use the 2.8 or 3.8 computer with proper wiring; however, if you use the 2.8 computer it will definetely need reprogramming.
