Hey guys as some of you may already know I recently purchased a 2000 Camaro. However with my meticulous state of mind, I have found several irritating noises. 1. While in first gear there is an intermitant whining noise coming from the aft end of the car. 2. There is what sounds like something winding up coming from the front left side of the car (wheel well I believe to be) this sound is as well intermitant, but happens less frequently than the previously stated noise. There are problems I am aware of which are 1.Needs new brake rotors and pads 2. Needs new blower motor 3. Has new tires but are piece of **** Falkens. Could any of these known problems be related to the unknown?

Ya, i have a 2000 V6 and the noise drives me crazy! Thats just the way thoes 3800s sound for that year for some reason. Its the gears. Ive tried to silence it but found the only way to do that is to buy a 3.8 in a different year. Ya it sucks.

Check the brake pads, they may be worn and the squeaker tab hitting the disk, they usually only make audible noise at low speed, at high speed only dogs can hear them. LOL You may want to check the axle bearing on that side, although they sound more like a subway car going down the track. Also the fuel pump makes a whining noise, that is masked by other noises at road speeds.

Ya when i hit the throttle it makes a god awfull whining noise. You can hear it clrear down the street. even if im in 3rd gear and i go to eccelerate it makes the noise. Bur z28pete is also right about the fuel punp. Ive looked for all kinds of ways to silence the noise but come up with nothing every time.

Yeah the brakes need redone for sure. The rotors have some nasty grooves, I think the type of pads on now are the long life ones that wear out the rotors first. So once I get some money I'm gonna get some new rotors and ceramic pads. Thanks pete and chevman. I'll have to check out the fuel pump and axle bearing then.
