Default 1994 V6 Camaro, Brake lights light up dash, drains battery

Ok not sure what I am doing with this car as of yet. I bought it for a lemons racer for $475 but I am not sure I have the heart to see a Camaro die. Regardless this baby has to run and run well.

It has a pretty quick drain on the battery. Picked it up and there wasnt enough to start it after driving it a bit. Every time you push on the brakes the dash lights kick on which is weird. I just bought a new battery so I am going to try that first but my gut tells me there is a short (probably a ground). I noticed the 3rd brake lights were out too...thus the ABS light was on. It has 121,000 miles and is a little beat down this the $475 price. But it ran well when we picked it up.

Any ideas? BTW I am starting up my IROC project again so if I do take it to lemons I may kill it but I am resurrecting a IROC...that makes it okay right?

it's never okay to kill a camaro =P
i would check the alternator to make sure it's charging your battery you can put a meter to it and see what the input it's putting out is. as far as the lighting problem i would check the wires to them and see if they are touching, the third break light is hooked up to the other break lights so check the bulb and see if it's blown. but thats wierd that the dash lights come on when you step on the breaks

make sure you are using the correct trade number bulbs in your tail lights and turn signals
