im not sure if you can do this, but ive heard of people talking about this...you MAY be able to take the stock supercharger off of a pontiac grand prix gtp and put it on your 3.8...if that doesnt work, i know you dont wanna hear this, but 4k would very very easily buy you an lt1 and pay for someone too install it

Wouldn't that involve alot of other things i'd have to buy that the ls1 would need?

Only one or two people have done this. It's not worth the effort.

280 hp would be a good goal. ull want performance heads cam and intake, tb will probly need to be changed and ull want good headers with high flow cat and cat back with crossover pipe. u can get some good hp gains with lt headers, have a look here. listen to run 4,5 and 6. sound is really good.

best bet would be to sell your 2000 v6, put the money that you get out of that car with the 4k and just buy an ls1 or lt1...but CRABY has some good advice as well

Here's a guide to get to 230 RWHP:

280 will definitely take some extra work...

Will you be doing all the work yourself? How do you feel about used parts? (LS1 Rear?) 280 is a realistic goal for 4K budget if you are doing the work. Your V6 tranny will be in the danger zone and without a posi rear the car will spin tires like crazy with the base rear in it.

Just a FYI, A Dyno Queen is a car that has a bunch of power but can not use it anywhere but on the Dyno. The example I like to use is a taking a stock 305/3 speed manual 75 Camaro and droping a built 454 in it. On a Dyno the 454 may be impressive. It could easlly put up number well past the 400 HP mark and still hold together. But it might run a 14 in the quater mile. With the tall gearing, single traction and factory wheel hop issue it could be owned by 275 HP small block with a 4 speed some 3.73 posi gears and a good set of traction bars.

I wouldn't be doing all the work, my friends dad is a mechanic and will help me, and when I mean help me I mean me sitting back watching lol. So lets say I get new exhaust, headers, intake, cam, heads. What am I looking at with that, price and performance. Also would I have to replace anything else in order to put those parts on?
