Default Trans Woes

I have a '95 Z28 automatic and suddenly the trans has taken a dump. I'm looking into replacing it but am not sure what exactly will work as far as years that will interchange and such. I have noticed that some are 2 piece (as in the bell housing can be removed from the trans) and some are all 1 piece.

I just want to make sure what I order is going to fit so any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

I remember a thread that listed the variation. If you are looking for direct replacement I think you need a 95. Something is different in the electronic every year 94-95-96. I think that thread also listed what you had to do to switch between 94 and 95, maybe an internal wiring harness and a few other parts. I believe 96 was a lot more work. 93 is not a 4L60e so its not an option.

95 and newer are all PWM transmissions and they should all work. I have not seen a 4L60/E with a removable bell housing. You will need to swap your tail housing. Too bad you weren't in PA. I have a '95 4L60E sitting in my car port that I have zero use for.
