Default tranny i.d confirmation needed

i always thought that all 93 Z28's came with the 4L60 trans, untill i decoded my S.P.I.D and came across RPO code MD8 which states THM 700R-4 trans

700r4 is the same trans as a 4l60. gm just changed the name, 93 has a unique trans, not in any other camaro. has a round 5 pin connector.

if it has a round 5 pin plug then its a 92 vette or 93 camaro trans. here is a vss plug http://www.ebay.com/itm/93-LT1-Camar...ht_1911wt_1013

a good trans shop can wire in a 5 pin plug if its set up to do it. i dont know what the difference is if any on the inside the trans. the 93 locks the tc in 3rd gear, something i dont think the older ones can do.

400 install would cost as much as a built 4l60. have a look at what patc has. building a trans is not easy. i wont do it.
