Default T56 acting funny going into second

My 01 SS is acting weird when i shift out of first gear. Its like the shifter isnt going into the gear, but if i wait 2 senconds in neutral, it goes right into 2nd. It does the same thing going into 3rd from 1st, but not from 2nd to 3rd. Sometimes it goes right in with no problem. Please tell me this is the actual shifter thats a problem...

Does it shift into all the gears if you're doing some "spirited" driving then? And, were you seeing the skip light go on in the dash?
