Default short shifter

I'm in a bit of a debate with this gay *** ricer kid. He goes on to tell me that a short shifter is bad because it messes up your syncros. I go on to say... you're right B&M and Hurst don't know what they're doing.

Could somebody please fill me in all the info i will need to tear him down... i don't know much about it and would love to take this opportunity to learn. Right or Wrong.

Default RE: short shifter

[&:] the short shifter or lack of will have no effect on the internals of the trans. in most cases the short shifter is simply a change in the mechanical advantage and length of levers the driver uses( neat aftermarket racey race shifters). now if he was refering to "short shifting" this is usually hard on the synchros as the clutch is not used to aid in the shifting process and the driver merely lets off on the gas to slow and match engine and tranny speeds in an attempt to speed up the gear change process kurt

A short shifter is basically used for to help you shift to the next gear much quicker. No damage to the transmission
