Thumbs up Manually shift 4l60e

Hello everyone I am new to this Forum I have a 95Z 383 Lt1 with a fresh 4l6e and a 3600 stall converter. I am trying to find out if I can manually shift this with a ratchet shifter or will I need to have the pcm programed and have the valve body worked on. This car will see more time at the dragstrip then the street, but is driven to and from the track. thanks for any help In have about 3 months to get it ready

It should work fine. I assume you will rev the engine well past where the PCM would want to shift the selector will not allow it to shift until you do.

You can make the transmission a little stronger by going to a manual shift valve body. This will allow to run higher line since the pressure will not effect shift points.

Thanks for the reply Gorn the trans was actually shifting way high with the 3600 stall right around 6900 rpm way to high for the hydraulic roller. I had is tuned and they have it shifting around where it should be (6000) but I am hooping to short shift it to slow it down for the class I am running. from what I understand there is not a lot they can do with tuning the 4l60e with the obd1 computer. Just something I am trying to get a handle on before next season
